Happy Wednesday! Your forecast for today: cloudy with lots of sunshine. : )
I'm loving our new Puffy Wood Clouds. They're so cute! And they look even cuter with a bit of paint. Let me show you what I've been doing with them...
...
First, paint on a coat of gesso (or white acrylic paint would work great too). It just primes the wood and turns it into the perfect base for adding additional layers.
...
When I was at Michaels, I picked up this Martha Stewart paint called "Cloud." Well, here it is..."Cloud" painted on a "cloud." lol. It's hard to see in this photo but it's a light grey-blue. It doesn't really excite me but...how 'bout I show you what does? : )
...
Check this out! Okay, so, this Puffy Wood Cloud has a layer of white gesso. When it was dry, I selected a few blue shades of watercolor crayon and scribbled them on (darkest shade on the bottom and lightest shade on the top)....leaving a patch of white.
...
Then, I blended them with a damp watercolor brush.
...
Then, while the watercolor crayon was still wet, I dabbed at it with my paper towel to remove some of it. Just to give it this nice, soft effect. Keep in mind that you can keep wetting the watercolor crayon to move the color around and keep wiping some of it away with a paper towel until you get your desired look.
Also, watercolor paints and Twinkling H2Os are excellent for this technique too. : )
...
How 'bout a cloud with a silver lining? Goldfinger in silver works great - just rub on a bit with your finger, easy peasy.
...
And once your clouds are ready, you can add them to your ATCs, cards and just about anything that needs a little puffy goodness. I made this ATC and perched one of our new Lovely Fairies on a cloud.
...
Painted Puffy Wood Clouds amidst some of my Handmade Clouds (I've arted them up for you!) on top of a vintage French magazine (we only have a few copies left!)...oh, so pretty!
...
Bruno waits patiently while I get everything ready for him to pick the winner of my special Charm Giveaway from last week. First, I add the numbers to the clouds and next I add the treats.
...
And Bruno picks #59....Gini Cooper! Congrats Gini, you win my collection of 6 charms. Please email me with your mailing address.
Btw, thank you soooo much for all of your wonderful comments from last week. Your kind words and compliments put me on cloud 9! : )
